Dengue Cases Surge Past 68,000 as July Records Sharp Rise in Infections

The National Dengue Control Unit says that the number of dengue patients being reported daily continues to rise, with 13,293 cases recorded within the first 12 days of July.

As of yesterday (12), the total number of dengue cases reported in Sri Lanka has increased to 68,672, according to the National Dengue Control Unit.

The highest number of cases has been reported from the Western Province, amounting to 36,118 patients. Within the Western Province, Gampaha District has recorded the highest number with 14,112 cases, followed by Colombo District with 13,791 cases.

The highest number of cases this year was reported in June, with 21,538 patients.

The National Dengue Control Unit further states that 47 deaths have occurred due to dengue during the period so far this year.
